First update since the beginning of classes

Classes started Monday, August 30th and I've been busy. Finalizing my financial aid and apartment lease, buying necessary items for the apartment, cleaning and settling in, along with courses (in the midst of scorching weather), and the gym keep me busy from the morning until the evening.

As far as schoolwork goes, I'm projecting that my most difficult courses will be Data Structures (Johnson) and Early History of Ancient Greece (McMahon). As some of you may know, I am retaking Early History of Ancient Greece to replace the grade I received when I was last enrolled at UNH. McMahon, the professor of the current course, is the only professor that teaches the class and I've been working with him to ensure I am doing the right things to succeed. My other two coursesĀ  (Precalculus and Computer Power and Human reason) shouldn't be as difficult.

I haven't had much work to do thus far, except reading. Ancient History of Early Greece has 10 books alone. Data Structures is loaded with notes that we must go over to do well on the quizzes, as well as textbook readings to ensure we do well on the project assignments.

As far as my schedule goes, it's very reasonable. I have class every day of the week at either 9:00am or 9:40am, a 3 hour break after, and I'm done no later than 3:00 or 4:00pm. The absence of evening courses gives me more than enough time to study, complete homework assignments, and work out.

Well, that's all for now. I will provide a more comprehensive update after the first week is through!

Moving is a pain …

Although I don't move back to Durham until Sunday, I spent most of the day preparing to make it happen. I did 7 loads of laundry, packed everything I don't need to use during my final week at home, and went through a lot of my school stuff from 08-09 to see what I could salvage. I was able to pack about 3/4ths of my stuff, do and fold all my Laundry, and figure out what stuff to bring each of the three times I go up (including my one-way trip on Sunday).

My birthday is tomorrow!

I still have a crazy amount of stuff to do before school starts. Doctor's appointments, dentist appointment, orthodontist appointment, wisdom teeth removal follow-up appointment, and a vet appointment for my dog. Need to swing through Manchester to tie up a few loose ends before I leave as well. Hopefully grabbing some dinner and drinks then playing poker with the local crew tomorrow night. Going down to see my long-time family friends to celebrate my birthday with them on Friday.

I'm signing my lease and bringing up about half of my possessions tomorrow, which will be a huge amount of weight off my shoulders. Once I have my key and have my room arrangements squared away, I can bring most of the remainder of my items up Friday, and the last of them Sunday when I move in.

Things have been busy, but good!

Blog online. School is right around the corner!

My first project of the school year is complete. A blog detailing my educational endeavors and trials to come. For more information about this blog, click (go-figure) the About This Blog link at the top of the page.

Right now I am finalizing my lease, packing, and making sure all loose-ends are tied before courses begin on the 30th of August. I've already registered for courses (I'd hope so!) and ordered my books. My finances are situated and I have a week to complete all other tasks.

I just got my wisdom teeth out so I was out of commission for a few days. My mouth still hurts! All in all, this will be an extremely busy week, between doctor's appointments, school preparation ..... and my birthday on Tuesday. I won't be celebrating until Friday. If all goes as planned, I will move in Sunday the 29th. I plan to go up and get my key, as well as move in more than half of my stuff sometime before then.

Well, I'm not sure how often I will actually update this blog when courses start. However, if I don't update it enough, it defies the point of having it! I will do my best. Look forward to seeing you all throughout the school year.
